Taiwan to invest $ 22.170m in Karnaphuli EPZ of Bangladesh

Taiwan will invest US$ 22.170 Million, approximately Tk 150 crore, in Karnaphuli EPZ to set up a Footwear Manufacturing Industry.The 100% foreign owned company, M/s. Greenland Footwear (BD) Limited, will produce to export annually 3,600,000 pairs finished shoes & footwear. The company will also create employment opportunity for 3,540 Bangladeshi and 40 foreign nationals. An agreement, to this effect, was signed between the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority and the Greenland Footwear (BD) Limited in BEPZA Complex here on Sunday. Prasanta Bhushan Barua, Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA and Yu Cheng Hsing, Managing Director of M/s. Greenland Footwear (BD) Limited, executed the agreement on behalf of their respective organization. Brig General Jamil Ahmed Khan, Executive Chairman of BEPZA and other officials from respective organizations were present on the occasion.
