Co-ops to launch domestically made frozen foods

TOKYO —
Co-op Net, a network of eight co-operative unions in eastern Japan including Tokyo, will launch a line of frozen foods made in Japan with domestically produced ingredients.
The use of domestically produced ingredients such as meat, vegetables and flour is a response to growing concerns over food safety in Japan following a food-poisoning scare involving Chinese-made frozen dumplings.
The packaging will clearly show where in Japan the products and their ingredients are made. The eight new products will be available to co-op member customers via home delivery from Aug 11.
